The term quality management means different things to different people at different times. However, quality is not an absolute, but rather is based on the customer’s perceptions. A customer’s impression can be influenced by a number of factors, including brand loyalty and an organization’s reputation. Plenert (2012) notes that quality management is the practice and procedure for achieving quality (p. 47).  Also, Plenert (2012) states that quality is the ongoing course of building and sustaining relationships by measuring, anticipating, and satisfying the stated and implied needs (p. xii). Quality management is a process by which management is able to develop policies and practices to ensure the firm’s product functionality, reliability, strength and serviceability. Therefore, quality management should be a concern and the responsibility of all levels of management within an organization (Paraschivescu & Stoica, 2018, p. 12).

            In today’s global competitive world, improvement in the quality and cost reduction of products and services has become one of the most important factors to achieve to have a competitive advantage (Ashraf, 2016, p. 200). In Genesis Chapter, we are able to read how Our God was very meticulous about the quality of His work. It is the story of God’s purpose and plan for His creation. As the book of beginnings, Genesis sets the state the stage for the entire Bible. It reveals the person and nature of God as being the Creator, Sustainer, Judge, and Redeemer. It’s also reveals the value and dignity of human beings; as being made in God’s image, saved by grace, and used by God in the world. In verse 31 in Chapter 1 of Genesis, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. Our God was pleased with how He made you and I.

In reading Keller & Alsdorf (2012) on work as cultivation, I think the author brought it home for me when he stated, “every day we should try to bring into the focus the beauty without lacking the dignity of being patterning after the work of Our Heavenly Father. No matter how big or small the business matter may be, we should give our best and try to excel in every task (Keller & Alsdorf, 2012). When you have a biblical understanding of work, it helps us to understand the book of Genesis, in how Our God created the heavens and the earth. He owns the world and everything in it. God has the ultimate and absolute rule over His creation, and He exercises His authority with loving care. He even left us with an assignment when He created both man and woman in His image, which was to “rule over.” When God delegated some of His authority to humans, He expects us to take responsibility for the environment and the creatures that share our planet. We must not be careless and wasteful as we fulfill this charge. In an article by Walden, (2012), he remarks that work is fundamental and necessary towards our human experience. Work affects our conception of time, shapes our daily lives, confers our income or status, and molds how societies are organized (p. 296). Our God is a creative and productive God!!

Being productive is known as getting things done! Thus, due to large segments of competition in our business world, companies constantly need to produce quality products. Their improvements must also be in line with the enhancement in labor performance (Putri, Hasan, Darma &Yusof, 2017, p. 1138). Moradinaftchali, Wang & Song (2016) states that in order to control the quality of products, the productivity function needs to be controlled. Any deviation of a product from its nominal value can occur due to external factors, manufacturing, imperfections, and product deterioration. In order to reduce these effects and to produce quality products, quality improvements needs to be done (p. 4418). A biblical perspective allows us to see productivity as undertaking a moral and ethical good. We were made by God to produce quality goods and services as a product of our work. When we are productive and obedient to God’s instructions He has given us, our work becomes a rightful source of personal contentment and dignity.

            Ephesians 4: v. 11-13 (from the Life Application Version) reminds us that Christ has endowed each one of us with unique spiritual gifts, and now that we have these gifts we must use them. Our God has given us an enormous responsibility to make disciples in every nation. This involves productivity on our part. This involves preaching, teaching, healing, nurturing, giving, administering, and building. If we had to fulfill these commands as individuals, we would need to give up without trying, because it would be impossible. But since Our God has called us as members of His body, some of us can do one task, and some can do another. Together we can obey God more fully than any of us could alone. Therefore, I feel that every group, and everyone will feel like they are receiving special treatment and Our God has enough love, grace and mercy to go around. Amen!
