In what box of the GE/McKinsey Nine Box matrix would you put your Assignment One/Two company?   (A link to an article describing the GE/McKinsey Nine Box matrix can be found in this week’s Instructor Notes.)

Defend your assessment of business attractiveness, using numbers wherever possible.  Start with identifying at least two highly relevant competitors in addition to your company.

• How profitable is the industry in terms of return on sales and return on equity?  DO NOT USE AN “INDUSTRY” METRIC SUCH AS MIGHT BE FOUND IN YAHOO FINANCE.  Calculate the “industry” metric yourself by using a weighted average of your company and its competitors.
• How fast is the industry growing?  Compare total sales numbers for your “industry (as computed from the group of competitors) in 1995 and 2000 and 2015 (or create a ten year trend line).
• What other factors did you consider in coming to your answer?
