As part of the formal assessment for the programme you are required to submit a Strategic Issues in HRM assignment and reflective statement. Apply relevant conceptual models and theories to inform HR responses to major trends in the business environment. 2. Critically analyse key cross-functional developments in contemporary HRM practice. 3. Identify and analyse relevant data on major trends in the business environment. 4. Evaluate the impact of such trends on the strategic nature of HRM.
5. Graduate Attributes: Critically evaluate the efficacy of strategic HRM models using case study examples. Discipline Expertise: Knowledge and understanding of chosen field.
Guidance Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in AU Harvard system(s). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below.

Assignment Task Task 1 – Assignment Please select one of the following organisations to use as a base for this assignment task: 1) Nestle 2) Volkswagen 3) Virgin Atlantic 4) Starbucks Imagine you are the HR Director in this organisation and you have been asked to prepare a report for presentation to the board of directors, exploring how strategic issues in HRM will impact on the organisation.
You should prepare the report based on the following questions. Note that the maximum word count for this Task 1 is 3,500 words. Question 1 Identify three social and / or labour market changes that have occurred in the organisation’s operating environment in recent years. Explore the factors driving these changes.
Analyse the importance of the role of the HR department in organisations and the importance of HR strategies and their alignment with organisational strategies.

Recommend an appropriate HR strategy to manage your workforce more effectively. This should include but not be restricted, to the following: • A consideration of the possible social and cultural issues arising from the management of the workforce.
• An outline of the possible benefits effective training and development can bring to your organisation. • The role that the HR department will take in ensuring the effective performance management of all employees. • An indication of how specific HR practices can be beneficial in enhancing organisational productivity.
• An indication of how industry best practice has shaped your recommendations.

Task 2 – Reflective Statement Prepare a reflective statement related to your learning on this module to include evaluation of the impact or potential impact of flexible working practices on the organisation chosen in Task 1. Reflect on the extent to which flexible working practices can positively impact the HRM function and the role of employees.
