While working one day, you get a phone call from a department manager notifying you that one of his employees came to work under the influence of a controlled substance. Upon legal testing, the employee was found to have consumed an illegal narcotic. There are no illegal substances found on the employee so the assumption is made that the activity occurred prior to the employee coming to work. The employee informs you that they have a substance abuse problem. The manager demands that you terminate the employee immediately. You recall that alcohol and drug abuse are both considered disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Draft a policy that outlines how Centurion Healthcare will address this problem. In your policy, address the following Scope of the policy; who does this policy apply to? Definitions- What is considered drugs/alcohol? Procedure- Should address concepts such as reasonable suspicion, testing procedures, disciplinary/corrective actions, continuation of employment, etc Support your paper with a minimum of two (4) resources, which may include your required text(s).
